Director, Economic Development
Phillip C. Scoggin P.O. Box 900 Atoka, Ok 74525 580.889.6575 Mr. Scoggin became Atoka's first Economic Development Director in January 2005. His background includes experience in both the private and public business sectors. Mr. Scoggin is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Atoka City Industrial Development Authority (A.C.I.D.A.). In this capacity, it is his job to attract new industry as well as assist in the retention and expansion of the area's existing businesses. Mr. Scoggin works closely with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Kiamichi Technology Center, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and other economic development entities to insure that new and existing industries receive the many benefits that are available to assist them to grow and prosper.
A 1965 graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in accounting, Mr. Scoggin received his Certified Public Accountant certification in 1969. He was employed by several major accounting firms as well as being a sole practitioner. From 1974 until 1997, Mr. Scoggin owned and operated a large beverage distribution business in the state of Oklahoma. From 1998 until 2004 Mr. Scoggin was employed by a statewide economic development firm as the Director of International Trade.
Mr. Scoggin is the past Chairman of the Oklahoma Governor's International Team, the past Chairman of Oklahoma Southeast, a member of the Oklahoma Economic Development Council and several other civic and professional organizations.
